Vertical Spraying Solutions (VSS) recently conducted a trial for a client to explore the possible benefits of automating some of the repetitive and time-consuming tasks on their orchards, without having to replace their existing equipment with a new robotic machine (and with its associated price tag).
We collaborated with Agri Automation (Chris Clifford and Jason Bennett) on the trial – and coupled their GOtrack Autodrive-fitted tractor with our GPS-enabled HSS Orchard Sprayer.
The video clip and photos show what these combined technologies can do. Think autonomous tractor and spraying (and other orchard) operations!
It was great for us to see the GPS-enabled HSS Orchard Sprayer working in the field – and to consider the future opportunities with it. Unlike “standard” sprayers, all of the usual switching on and off when spraying in and out of orchard rows is taken care of automatically by the GPS Sprayer. So, there’s much less operator fatigue when spraying – and much more accurate and reliable spraying operations! The spraying operations can also be viewed and tracked remotely by orchard supervisors/managers.
When used with the Agromanager software suite, our GPS-enabled HSS Orchard Sprayer will also provide a powerful and flexible data capture, management and reporting tool for spraying operations on the orchard.
